The Bambanani Chair
2nd Year Student:
PROJECT INFOCome Together.
The Babanani chair is inspired by the Zulu craft of weaving. This is apparent in the use of vertical and horizontal lines that seem woven together. It is made out of 100% recyclable corrugated cardboard. Due to an intricate method of interlocking, no glue is needed for construction.
The student is required to design and construct something comfortable to sit on out of corrugated cardboard. The design should satisfy the conventional anthropometric and ergonomic requirements of a seating device, within the size limitations of a regular dining room chair. The design should encourage making use of recycled cardboard, as well as the economic use of the material – less is more!
