Amy’s honours major project “Digital Mom” deals with the potential that smart devices may have on the breaking of old habits, and the forming of new ones. This app learns about the patterns that individuals employ when acting on a habit that the users wants to break, and then intervenes. The app may also randomly contact friends and family, should the programme not trust that the user is telling the truth. It’s called “Digital Mom” because it acts as a substitute for that nagging mother who constantly tells us not to bite our nails! Amy was awarded a bronze Loerie award for this project.
