SRC (The Student Representative Council)
The SRC plays a very important role at Greenside Design Center. The SRC is elected by the student body and each class has an elected representative. These elected representatives attend all Programme Team Meetings where they play a crucial role reporting on issues raised by the student body thereby being the voice of the students. They also report back to their respective classes about any issues or concerns that are raised by staff at these meetings.
The SRC is tasked with helping organise special events at GDC such as our Open Days, Annual Exhibition, Design Hubs and other events that take place at GDC from time to time. They also help at the Annual Graduation and generally are the institutions ambassadors to the outside world.
Another extremely important role that the SRC plays is to organise and host social events for the student body. These events include soccer days, paint ball days, camping trips, battle of the bands, braais, parties, etc. All of these events have two main points of focus. They are firstly organised to build team spirit among the students and secondly to raise funds for charities and events that enhance the life of students at GDC.
