Aslam Mahomed qualified from Greenside Design Center, College of Design in 2007 with a 1st Class Pass in BA Interior Design. During his final year of study, Aslam was awarded a bursary by Platynum Interiors and went on to work at the Design Firm until the end of 2008. At Platynum Interiors he was responsible for the design of various successful projects ranging from the corporate field to the retail industry.
In 2009 Aslam started lecturing at GDC as a part time lecturer in 1st year Interior Design. At the same time, he completed his BA Honours Interior Design.
In August 2009 at the Decorex JHB 2009 exhibition, Aslam designed the dining room of the Sanlam Style Shapers of the Future home. At the show, Aslam launched his own Design Studio called Black Chilli Design. The stand at the show won the Decorex-Property Magazines Green Stand Award for Decorex 2009.
In 2010 Aslam took up a full time lecturing position at GDC lecturing the 2nd year and 1st year interior design students. He is also successfully running Black Chilli Design with various clients in the retail and domestic fields of interior design.
